My first effort at making something new for this year’s Me Made May was a pair of Sew House Seven’s Free-Range Slacks. I got the pattern ages ago, and traced Version 1 onto freezer paper, but then didn’t go any further.
There’s so much anticipatory brain power that goes into starting a new pattern sometimes. I don’t have a ton of pants experience (here are my Arenites), and I’m not even great at buying RTW pants that fit.
I cut a straight size 4 based on my measurements. Fortunately, there were no fit issues. I was surprised by how flattering the pants were for being woven fabric with elastic at the top.
Sometimes I’m reminded that while I talk about Tobago fairly often here, I haven’t shared much about our time there. Now seems like a good time to escape there for a little bit.
It’s that time again. Here are a few things that provided a good escape this past week:
1. Adventure movies with dubious plot lines.
I didn’t have to wait for spring to come this year. It came when it was supposed to. Maybe the winter was mild, maybe the anticipation of our trip to Tobago made the rest of the cold months go by faster.
The tulip and daffodil greens came up, and I saw buds forming. The forsythia bloomed. One lone daffodil bloomed earlier than all the rest. It was visible through the back windows of the house, and I checked on it each day, eventually watching it wilt, and waited for the others to bloom.
They never did.
I already did a little round-up of things that were making me smile, and I wanted to do another post with a few more things that have brought me joy or kept me afloat lately.
