The Book of Mistakes

The Book of Mistakes - What The Red Herring
The Book of Mistakes

I found The Book of Mistakes, by Corinna Luyken, at the library. I kept it for as long as they would let me, then bought a copy for myself. It’s a book every artist, kid, and grownup should page through. It speaks to perfectionists and makers who get their knickers in a twist about inevitable mistakes.

And gives readers permission to explore what happens if you push through those feelings of failure.

The book in unfailingly beautiful and carries in it a gentle, forgiving spirit.

It’s the sort of book you want in your home.  Then, when you sit down at the end of the day, you can remind yourself of how the best, most lovely, and unexpected things come from mistakes.

The photos featured here are from a second shoot after the first ones turned out badly. These ones weren’t quite what I wanted, either. If you are a perfectionist, even if these photos look ok to you, you’ll probably know what I mean. But in keeping with the spirit of this book, I did not attempt to take photos a third time, although dang it, I edited the heck out of the second batch.
